Brunch @ The Coastal Settlement & SMU Voix Concert

Last Sunday, my parents brought John & I to this unique restaurant named: The Coastal Settlement. It is filled with antiques from way back in the days. The location was a little hard to get to without a vehicle but it was special enough to draw a full house in. I've never seen a place quite like this.

If only you could see John's reaction when he found out my dad use to own one last time.

Sewing Project: Custom Pouch for Dialysis (CCPD/CAPD) Patients

Day 1
Last week was training week for Ah ma, Niely, Da Gou (my Aunt) and I at SGH. My grandma has kidney failure and after 3 years of dialysis and its different complications, we finally get to surgically change the dialysis method to CAPD as known as Water Dialysis to most people. Eventhough I didn't manage to go for all 5 days of training, it was enjoyable while it lasted. Other patients and their familes were also there to learn. I had so much fun and laughter even when the nurse was nagging alot. :) hehe.

Day 1 - Waiting for training to begin
Day 3 - Time for Lunch!
The tube from the body which connects the Ultra Bags is usually stored/kept with tape and cotton pads. There is also another way of keeping the tubes, which is in custom made waist pouches as shown below.
Top: The Nurse's sample
Bottom: My piece for Ah Ma.
After making one for my grandma, I had orders coming in from the other patients that where there. It was quite an experience doing the pouch for them. I have a sense of satisfaction, like I've done something good. :)

Midnight sewing :)
Orders from patients I met at the training center.
Some like their velcro at the front as seen on the top most pouch

To insert tubings and hold Transfer Set
Velcro for maximum comfort even throughout the night
Below is an image of how the tubings look like.

I am just really happy that I am involve in this whole process of dialysis for my Ah Ma. I always wonder how else can I show my love and affection to her especially since I am a very socially awkward person, expressing my love and care is generally very awkward and difficult for me. Yay me, now I am responsible when Niely isn't around :) I am not complaining. Anything for Grams <3

If you need a pouch, contact me for more details! :)
